Supporters Gather to Celebrate the New Safe Haven Kitchen!
On September 26, the Deborah’s Place Advisory Council hosted a Kitchen Shower to celebrate the new renovations to the kitchen at Dolores’ Safe Haven. More than 30 long time volunteers, former staff, and other supporters gathered to view and celebrate the new kitchen, while enjoying fruit, cookies, and cake. The kitchen received major renovations during the past few weeks, including new shelving, stainless steel countertops, and improved head room.

The staff and women of the Dolores’ Safe Haven received many gifts at the Shower– new utensils, appliances, towels, and other supplies for the new kitchen.

The new kitchen was rededicated in honor of former Dolores’ Safe Haven Administrator, Mary Benedetto, who served the women of Deborah’s Place for many many years. Here, Mary speaks to the guests, as Executive Director, Audrey Thomas (left) looks on.
Special thanks to Architects for Humanity, who donated pro-bono architecture services to plan the new look of the kitchen. Pictured here are Jaclyn Whitaker (left) and Katherine Darnstadt (right) with Chief Operations Officer Kathy Booton-Wilson.
Thank you to everyone who donated meals, volunteer hours, and gifts while the kitchen was being renovated! We appreciate all of your continual support!
