Professional Auxiliary Board’s Silver Spring Celebration a Shining Success!

On March 25, 2010, the Professional Auxiliary Board (PAB), the junior board of Deborah’s Place, welcomed over 80 guests at Shikago Restaurant in the Loop for their Silver Spring Celebration to raise funds for the women and work of Deborah’s Place, and to celebrate the agency’s 25th silver anniversary of breaking the cycle of homelessness for women in Chicago.

The event was a memorable evening, raising over $7,000. Throughout the evening, guests sipped on silver-themed drinks and wine, nibbled on Asian-inspired hors d’oeuvres, and swayed to music from DJ Samm as they networked with like-minded professionals.

“The Silver Spring Celebration is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our 25 years of service and to introduce and welcome new young professionals to the work of Deborah’s Place,” said Audrey Thomas, Deborah’s Place Executive Director. “The event also raises funds that help ensure that women who are homeless have access to supportive housing and services that help them achieve stability and self-sufficiency.”

The highlight of the evening was a raffle and a one-of-a-kind silent auction, which included Cubs tickets, a vacation in the Wisconsin countryside, spa and salon packages, gift certificates to local hot spots, and over 30 more unique prizes.

The silent auction stretched around the room.
Guests browsed the items throughout the night, checking back often to make sure they hadn’t been outbid.
Guests placed their bids on the bid sheets, periodically waging bidding wars on the most sought-after items, like the dinner for two at Morton’s Steakhouse and a “Recession-Free Spree” package with gift certificates to popular retail stores.

After the main event, sponsors, PAB members, and VIP ticket holders were lead up to the VIP Social Hour, where they sipped on champagne and enjoyed delicious 25th anniversary cake from the famed CakeGirls in the private “Library” room on the 40th floor of the same building.
