The Soloist and Deborah’s Place
We’re excited about the new movie that is out in theaters– “The Soloist.” The film portrays an L.A. Times reporter who befriends a man who is homeless and mentally ill, living on L.A.’s skid row. The man turns out to have been a musical prodigy in his youth.

The type of housing that this man eventually moves into is harm reduction supportive housing– the same type of housing that Deborah’s Place provides. The movie also sends the same message that we at Deborah’s Place espouse– that relationship building and supportive housing are the key to helping people move from homelessness to stability. We are encouraged and excited that this message is being broadcast in such a public way.
