New Home Kits for Teresa’s Women
Teresa’s Interim Housing provides a temporary home for women transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. These women arrive with only as much as they can carry: mostly clothing and other essentials.
Teresa’s women have at most a few days notice of when they will move into permanent housing. This is not enough time to plan, budget, or shop for their new needs.
Here’s where you come in!
Help Teresa’s women enter their new home in style by providing New Home Kits!
These are care packages that will be given directly to women moving into their new housing.
A New Home Kit is:
- Bedding (pillow, pillow case, sheets, blanket)
- Bathing items (towels, shower curtain and rings, new full-sized toiletries)
- Cleaning items (garbage can, cleaning rags)
- Lighting (lamps, light bulbs)
- (optional) Personal note of encouragement
- (other optional items) clock radio with alarm, microwave, TV with antenna, regular twin air mattress with pump
You can help in three ways:
- Purchase these items yourself, package them in an easy-to carry manner, and deliver them to Teresa’s at 1530 N Sedgwick (map).
- Hold a donation drive or “housewarming party” at your office, community group, or place of worship for these items. Package together as many whole kits as you can and bring them to Teresa’s.
- Contribute gift cards for cleaning supplies or for anything else in the kits.
