Andrew Robert Palmer (or ARP!) is a singer-songwriter from Chicago. Originally from South suburban Hazel Crest, Andrew is truly a homegrown artist who draws inspiration from his surroundings. Andrew began playing the drums at age 15 and writing his own songs by the age of 16. His first foray into the local DIY music scene was with his twee-pop-inspired band, The Mother Z’s. As The Mother Z’s ended in 2014, Andrew’s songwriting continued to develop and he soon began booking and playing his own shows around Chicago. Having released an extensive collection of work since 2015’s “Ghosts and Bees (A Retrospective),” Andrew has grown to become a “local DIY stalwart” and “one of the scene’s most prolific solo artists” according to Chicago Crowd Surfer. Andrew characterizes his upbeat folk-rock tunes with a sense of humor a la Ben Folds, while toggling through his other influences, from Elliott Smith-like poignancy and Jonathan Richman-style whimsy. ARP! shows are sure to come with lots of jokes, sing-alongs and charm.

The Black Oil Brothers

Three brothers – Tony Roy, Tim E., Anthony J. and their cousins Johnny Action and JonnyTwo Socks – made their way playing in different bands soaked in loud, fast 70’s swagger until 2009. Brotherly acoustic jams on Chess catalog covers gave way to originals steeped in the wiry muscle of south side Chicago electric blues and the highly rhythmic, loose boogie of North Mississippi hill country blues. They took the name the originally-intended singer thought up: The Black Oil Brothers.

Pravda Music caught part of their SXSW show and agreed on a publishing deal for the band’s original material. Writing began in earnest and cousin Johnny Action was brought in on the drums. In short order, the brothers released ‘Long Way From The Delta’ (2009) followed by ‘The High Road To Ruin’ (2011). Four successful tours of the UK, US gigs, and media placements lead up to critically acclaimed ‘‘Mean Business” in 2016, and John Two Socks joined the fold on percussion.
