Lunch and dinner are served every day at our Sedgwick and Oakdale locations. Meal service offers ongoing opportunities for volunteers to meet residents and nourish relationships. Meal service volunteers prepare, serve, and clean up after meals. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
Before volunteering, we require you to attend a one-hour orientation. You’ll meet staff members and learn more about Deborah’s Place, our values, and our approach to ending homelessness. Groups can send one representative to the volunteer orientation.
Once you’ve gotten to know Deborah’s Place by serving at least four meal service volunteer shifts, you can join us in the Learning Centers to share your skills on a weekly or monthly basis. Some topics for your group or class might include:
Our Learning Centers are open 40 hours a week, generally from 9-5 pm on weekdays. Contact us and let us know what you’d like to plan. We are open to your ideas that meet our residents’ interests and needs.
Develop your philanthropic skills by serving on our Young Professional Board. The YPB plans Deborah’s Place’s Fall Fundraiser and participates in a minimum of two direct service volunteer activities each year. Through social activities, YPB members meet new people and develop contacts. Apply here to serve on the YPB.
