Deborah’s Place is committed to creating an environment for our residents that makes the women feel safe and supported through their journey to reach their goals. That is why we are excited to share the completion of two major updates to the shared spaces at our 1530 North Sedgwick location in Old Town. Over the past two years, the learning center and meeting room there have undergone a major revamping, with new cabinets, computers, plumbing, painting, furniture and more.
The renovation of our learning center and the communal spaces gives our residents a beautiful and welcoming environment where they can feel at home. In addition, an updated program space means more opportunities for residents to socialize, take part in activities and learn from each other. New computers and a fresh layout in the learning center allow easier access to the internet where the women can explore their interests, apply for jobs and focus on their goals.
Another shared space that was renovated is our meeting room. The meeting room was updated with fresh paint, new furniture and vital technology that helps staff at our Sedgwick location easily connect with each other and community members. The new setup of this space is more accessible and allows staff to work even more effectively.
The transformation of these important spaces was made possible due to our generous partners: Perkins & Will, Power Construction, Corporate Concepts and Sammons Financial. Perkins & Will provided the architectural designs for each of the spaces, Power Construction provided advice and an all-women team of workers that brought these designs to life, Corporate Concepts donated efforts, discounted labor, and assisted with getting discounts from all the vendors and Sammons Financial provided the crucial funding needed to make our vision a reality. With their assistance, we are able to continue to provide the best resources for the women we serve and maintain an atmosphere where they feel like they belong.
