Deborah’s Place is proud to partner with the Interfaith Housing Development Corporation on an exciting new affordable housing project in Garfield Park: the Conservatory Apartments.

Construction began on this new affordable development in December 2022, with plans to open the building in 2023. Deborah’s Place will provide comprehensive case management and support to 34 unaccompanied women who’ve experienced homelessness and will reside at the Conservatory Apartments. This evidence-based model of permanent housing and wrap-around services will provide a launchpad for women to set and achieve goals and establish a stable life.

The building itself, designed by HED, will also be the largest of its kind in Chicago to meet Passive House standards of environmental sustainability and quality construction, raising the bar for affordable multi-family housing developments in the city.

In 2022, Deborah’s Place was able to provide services to 605 women: a momentous accomplishment, but our work is not yet done. The Conservatory Apartments provide an opportunity to expand our reach, strengthen our partnerships throughout the city, and help even more women achieve their goals through permanent supportive housing.

In support of this project and the ongoing work throughout our organization, a fundraiser will be held on May 4th, 2023 at the Garfield Park Conservatory.
