How do I become a Deborah’s Place Volunteer?

Fill out the New Volunteer Questionnaire. Be sure to indicate which volunteer orientation you wish to attend and the location where you would like to volunteer.

Can men volunteer?

Yes, we welcome all genders to volunteer with us.

Can youth volunteer?

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age for volunteer activities interacting with the women of Deborah’s Place (i.e., meal service, arts & crafts, game activities)

Can my work/church volunteer as a group?

Yes! For more information on group volunteering or to schedule a volunteer opportunity please contact our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@deborahsplace.org. Please include the type of experience you’re interested in, the number of people in your group and your contact information. We ask that you contact us at least a month prior to your desired volunteer date.

What if I cannot attend my scheduled volunteer shift?

We request you notify us of your cancellation at least 24 hours or more in advance of your scheduled shift. Please contact the location that you were scheduled and speak to staff there.

If you need to reschedule your shift, please email or call the onsite volunteer contact that was assigned during orientation. Include the date and time of your original volunteer shift.

Would I be able to complete community service hours at Deborah’s Place?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate court-ordered community service.

I can’t give my time right now, how do I make a donation?

Donations to Deborah’s Place help open doors of opportunity to women experiencing homelessness in Chicago. You can make a donation here. You may also mail a donation to Deborah’s Place at 2822 W Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60612.

If you would prefer to give an in-kind donation, you may drop it off at our administrative offices at 2822 W Jackson Blvd during open hours. If you are looking for ideas of items to donate, please review our wishlist. We are always in need of cleaning supplies, laundry detergent and assorted toiletries.

Deborah’s Place does not accept donations of clothing, used linens or open/expired medications or food items.
